Real Life

I like to post positive, life affirming photos of our work with children on my blog, because I want to show people that street/at risk/orphaned/abandoned (whatever you want to call them, pick a word) can lead completely healed and viable lives when they are offered rehabilitation, love and care. This is what ChildRescue has been doing in Ukraine for ten years. I am so thankful that I am able to help them do this.

This video was shot within the last year (2010/11) by Opportunity4Life and shows footage of children living on the streets in Ukraine and in orphanages.

It's important to keep these images in mind and remember that these are children that we are watching. This is their real life unless someone intervenes to help them.

I am so grateful that I've been able to work with and help Ukrainian street children for the past eight years thru and with various churches and organizations both stateside and in Ukraine. I have come to realize that helping these children is not about one big formula, program or goal thru one church or organization. It's about getting out there and finding out who or what group is truly addressing and solving the issues and is bringing resources, people, finances to the table so that those of us here can do what we can, where we are with what we currently have in our hands to use.

For me personally, most of all, it's about trusting in a God who is bigger than all of us and bigger than these children's problems. He is a faithful God. These are his children, and he will use those of us who are open to help them.
